🖤 it's morning after halloween: your mother is sleeping in, your father never came home, and your uncle has been nowhere to be seen. you and your brother are self-sufficient enough to get breakfast on your own and go to play video games... except the video games do something weird and begin to glitch. one moment you're holding wii controlers, then gamecube, then atari, and finally they stabilize as cards.
💙 worried you and your brother rush up the stairs to ask your mom for help, but she's resting her eyes and doesn't want to get up.
🖤 "Mom," you start pleadingly, My head feels weird. It's, like, really noisy. I don't like it," And just as it had started the night before, the noise hasn't stopped. Your mother gets more comfortable in her bed and tells you both, resting her eyes.
💙 Somewhat defeatedly, you and your brother look at each other before heading back downstairs. Tommy gets their first - because he does always get there first - and the two of you start arguing over the controller as your mother comes down. You quiet and watch. She sees you but ignores it with a hand gesture of: I'll deal with it later. You shrug at Tommy and the pair of you go back to playing video games.
🖤 "Have you seen your dad?" She asks a few minutes later as she re-enters the living room with a bowl of cereal.
💙 Nope! Comes Tommy's cheerful answer and you shift to put the controller down as you look at he, worriedly asking, "Do you wanna go look for him?"
🖤 "Well, if he doesn't want to be here there's nothing I can do about it."
💙 Things are weird. They feel weird. The disconnect between your parents is heavy between you and Tommy as Wanda moves to change the channel. You try again, "Hey, mom? Last thing Uncle P said that thing about rekilling dad-?"
🖤 "Don't believe anything that man's said. He is not your uncle," Wanda spins to declare and you glance at Tommy in confusion as he asks, "Then who is he?"
