[ Lightly said as he leads them to the kitchen, only letting go of Gingham's hand for the pancake ingredients. Thankfully, that's not that complicated. ]

Yeah. Especially when we have to paint our own context. I know about the treason?

[watching as he grabs the ingredients, looking around for a bowl to hand him]

Weirdly, I'm - less freaked out about the treason now? It seems like something really bad was happening to his home and the person in charge wouldn't do anything about it. Like, not only that but trying to do anything about it wasn't allowed. I think that might have been where the treason came from? I'm not 100% sure, but.

[ smiles thankfully and begins to start instructing him on how he can help 🤷‍♂️this is background chatter don't look at me. his attention remains more on gingham's story. ]

... I think it makes sense. If the person in charge is royal, whatever they decree would mean what they're acting against is treason. In which case, that makes him really brave to put his home first.

Do you know what the bad thing was yet? Any idea?

Right. Um, the thing is that the person in charge is also his mom, but he did kind of get temporarily arrested until she realized it was him? So I guess that still counts.

[snorts]

It's gonna sound really wild. Satin called it weird fairy tale stuff and he wasn't wrong.

Princes can still commit treason, they just might get let off the hook.

The trials from my visions take place in a magical forest on some road out of Sorcerer of Aus. How fairy tale are talking?

... Kind of really similar to that, actually. The whole magical forest thing, I mean. Except I think it's, like, bad? The way he talked about it made it seem like it was getting really dangerous. Or at least, taking over land they needed for agriculture and wildlife.

... So it's growing wildly and out of control, like a forest-y infestation?

Yeah. He was trying to find information about why. I know at some point he ended up there... I'm not sure if she let him go or he just ran off. She doesn't seem like the type who would have let him, though.

[ Quiet a moment as he thinks about it and then offers: ]

If he's anything like you - then he's stubborn and cares enough that he won't stop at anything to help. So my guess is, yeah, he keeps going against her wishes.

I don't know how much like me he is. But I do think it's more likely that he left without her giving him permission. I just hope it ends up okay - it seems pretty dangerous there. He got attacked by, like, monster wasps? Not good.

I do think there's like some connection? Enough to make us interested in them, like my kid being goth and magick stuff. [ No traits, though, he shakes it off as he finishes mixing and shifts to find the right pan. ]

Not important. How'd he deal with the wasps?

Sure, but what I meant is - he seemed, like, a lot more generally frustrated than I am. Though I guess I'd be frustrated if I grew up in a, like, magical disaster zone that nobody was doing anything about. Can't really blame him.

[glances at the ceiling for a second before responding to the question]

I get it. I mean - even if there's similarities it's not like we're exactly the same, right? Different lives and all that.

[ More importantly. That response makes him raise a brow. Interesting. He stops what he's doing while the pan heats up to lean against the counter and tries not to look amused. ]

I will promise to try not to laugh.

He ran off and tripped and fell into, like, a pit. That's where the vision ended. Which doesn't bode well for his chances! But it's probably fine.

Why would I laugh about that?

Okay yeah saying it out loud it sounds less embarrassing and more, like, sad. Anyways!

I'm pretty sure, though, yeah. That was, like, right after he got to the forest, and there was another one where it seemed like he'd been there longer.

I was thinking more along the lines of worrying, especially if it was a dangerous forest and there was no one to help him. Most people would panic if they were being chased.

[ He nods though, somewhat relieved as he puts pancake batter on the pan. ]

That's good at least. Was there anything interesting about that one, or...?

Yeah. The part I said about it not boding well wasn't because I thought his journey ended there or anything, more like... Not a great start.

[perks up a little, though]

He found a dragon! It's really cute. It probably didn't end up attacking him and whoever he was traveling with.

[ don't make a worried face, don't make a worri- ]

A dragon, really? You've been holding out on me. [ teasing ] And he has a partner in his treasonous, evil forest fighting mission?

[ that's what he's taking away from this ]

Yeah! He got to see it hatch and everything! It's pretty cute and only a little bit scary.

I don't know much about the other guy... I haven't gotten a vision of them meeting or anything. But at least he had help, I guess.

It's a baby, how can it be scary?

[ Thinks about it, ] Well, if he's with him then I'm sure you'll see him again. Traveling magic roads tends to come with at least a party of two.

Um, the teeth and the claws, mostly. I said baby, but it's like... Dog sized? But I think you're right. If it was going to do anything it probably would have tried already.

I guess I'll find out for both things when I get more visions.

I'm not going to point out a dog could mean like chihuahua or great dane size and just say fair point. Maybe he likes you.

[ Finishes flipping another pancake that's a thing he's supposed to be doing and then puts it on the plate he'd been gathering - pushes it in front of Gingham. Briefly quiet as he pours more down and asks: ]

Are you going to keep viewing them as you get them?

[nods as he looks for some forks]

Yeah. I want to find out if his home and all the people who live there end up safe. Including him.

[ starts making the batch for the rest of unholy as he nods. ]

Yeah, I can see that. [ A beat. ] But I'd like to think it works out for him.
